Terms of Service
Effective Date: October 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using BitrateCalc, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our website.
2. Purpose of the Service
BitrateCalc is provided as a free calculation and planning utility for video editors, streamers, and content creators. Calculations are based on standard video encoding formulas and multiplexing estimates.
3. Encoding Variance Disclaimer
While BitrateCalc provides high-precision mathematical estimates, actual file sizes generated by third-party video editors (such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Handbrake, or FFmpeg) may vary slightly due to:
- Multiplexing (container) overhead differences between MP4, MKV, WebM, and MOV formats.
- Variable Bitrate (VBR) encoder spikes during complex scenes.
- Subtitles, closed captions, and auxiliary audio streams.
We recommend always maintaining our default -5% safety margin and using 2-Pass VBR or CBR when exporting for strict file upload ceilings.
4. Intellectual Property & Fair Use
All website design, logos, calculation scripts, and interactive tools are the property of BitrateCalc. You are free to use calculated results and copy-paste export presets for personal, commercial, and client video projects without restriction.
5. Limitation of Liability
BitrateCalc is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis. In no event shall BitrateCalc or its creators be liable for any missed upload deadlines, export errors, or bandwidth overages resulting from the use of our calculators.
